It has been a few weeks since our last blog. We have been very busy with our reading series and many new math activities. Our second grade music program is scheduled for next week and we are busy preparing some great songs. Mr. Hauk, our music instructor has been doing a great job keeping us in line. Look for pictures of our upcoming program on the WHE website.We are at the very beginning of a great stretch of good weather. We really look forward to outside recess and letting some of our winter energy out. Our reading series has taken us on an adventure in the desert with "Dig, Wait, Listen". We have been reading "Push Up the Sky" this week as we learned of native American culture and how to write and read a play. Our writing has also been based on play writing. Our new reading series really invites the students to challenge themselves in different formats.
Math has been really challenging. We are starting fractions. We have spent two weeks on fractions and we look forward to a unit test this week. We've been talking a lot about pizza and cake this week as we see how to divide up food in fractions. We are all glad that we do math right before lunch.
We are also busy preparing for our annual Family Read Night. It will be March 26th at 7:00. This is a great time to share the love of reading with your child. Plan on attending.
